Well, I have an appointment now. I think I have to go.

I guess I’d better go now. It’s getting late.

Looking for jobs is a painful thing, but nearly every one must do it at least once a lifetime. Anyway, there are some points a person must remember to succeed in having an interview.

To begin with, it is not a good idea to be late. People don’t think very highly of the one who arrives twenty minutes late, or explaining that he couldn’t find the street and that his watch was slow. The wise one studies the place the day before, or make sure that he can find the street, the building, the right floor, and the office; at the same time, he looks around to examine what the employees are wearing and how they work. Next day he arrives early. It does not matter if someone recognizes him and mentions his first visit to her boss. On the contrary, the eager fellow can only be regarded as art, thoughtful, and well organized - three points in his favor before he has said a word.

Then, appearance. It is most important for one to be dressed properly and to look alive- pleasant, interested. It is also very important to look at people in the eyes because this "eye contact’ can strongly suggest that one is honest and open-minded. A few other points are regularly mentioned by the gum or oke during an interview; they should not sit down before being invited to do so. It is even worse to examine the objects on the desk while the manager is answering the telephone, to listen to the conversation - and perhaps offer a comment afterwards. This is definitely not the time to joke, or to interrupt the interviewer in mid-sentence面试对策:工作习惯与方式

1. If I spoke with your previous boss, what would he say are your greatest strengths and weaknesses?

对策:Emphasize your skills, and don't be overly negative about your weaknesses. It's always safer to identify a lack of a skill as an area for improvement rather than a shortcoming.

2. Can you work under pressures, deadlines, etc.?

对策:Yes, it's a way of life in business. Be sure to cite examples of your success.

3. How have you changed the nature of your job?

对策:Explain how you have improved the efficiency, productivity, and the like.

4. Do you prefer staff or line work? Why?

对策:It depends on the job and its challenges.

5. In your present position, what problems have you identified that had previously been overlooked?

对策:Keep it brief and don't brag.

6. Do you feel you might be better off in a different size company? Different type company?

对策:It depends on the job -- elaborate slightly.

7. How do you resolve conflict on a project team?

对策:Explain that communication is important, and that you would first you discuss the issues privately.

8. What was the most difficult decision you ever had to make?

对策:Try to relate your response to the prospective employment situation.

A: Yes, I have learned a little French and Japanese as well.

I: 是的。

Dialogue 2

I: Have you ever worked as a tour guide?

A: I have a little experience. I guided a few foreign tourists around Beijing last year as a part-time job. I showed them to the Great Wall, the Imperial Palace, and the Summer Palace.

I: Then you may know that it抯 hard work.

A: Yes, I know. A friend of mine is a guide. He talked with me about his work, but I don抰 mind working hard.

A: No, this is my first.

I: Is there anything you want to ask about?

A: I抎 like to be an overseas tour guide someday. Would there ever be any chance of that?

I: Certainly. There抣l be a good chance of that if you work for this company. Not right away, of course, but in a few years, after you learn more about our business, you may go overseas with a tour group. Any questions?

A: Yes. When can I get the decision? I hope you can give me a definite answer as soon as possible. If I抦 turned down, I ll have to secure a position elsewhere.

I: All right, then. We抣l get in touch with you within a week. Thank you for coming today, Mr. Sun.

A: Thank you. Good-bye.

I: Good-bye.

I: 当然有。

A: I think I will call the office to send someone to meet us, and escort that person to the nearest hospital without interrupting our trip.

I: If one of them forgot a camera in a restaurant, would you let the tourist bus go back?

A: No. In fact, prior to their boarding the bus and their getting off the bus, I will make an announcement to remind them that they should check their belongings.

A: 不会的。

What name shall I say?

May I have your name please?

I’m sorry. I didn’t catch your name.

Are you Mr. White. Hi I’m Kiele from ABC Company. Let me introduce a friend of mine.

I’m sorry, but may I interrupt you a few seconds?

If you don’t mind, may I say a word here?

Excuse me for interrupting you.

Just a moment please, I want to say something about the issue.

第一天到公司上班,You must be nervous.

Peter: Good Morning. May I introduce myself? My name's Peter King and I'm new here.

Anna: Pleased to meet you. I'm Anna White, the assistant to the Personnel Manager.Welcome to our company.

在formal正式场合中, 要用:Good morning/afternoon或How do you do,同时要shaking hands“握握手”来显示你的sincerity诚意。

May I introduce myself? My name's Peter King,你还可以说:Let me introduce myself. My name's Peter. 或者I'm Peter.

Peter: Could you introduce me to the Manager?

Susan: Of course. Mr. King... Mr. White, let me introduce you to Mr. Peter King, the new clerk in your department.

White: How do you do. I'm Alex White. We're going to be working together.

Peter: How do you do. I've been looking forward to meeting you, Mr. White.

Could you introduce me to .?

1、I haven't met your Managing Director yet.

2、I don't know anyone here. You'll have to introduce me.

1、Let me introduce you to our Managing Director.(请让我把您介绍给我们的总裁。);

2、I'll introduce you to our Managing Director , this is Mr. Johnson, our MD.

对了,是:Nice to meet you.(见到您很高兴。)

I've heard a lot about you. 当然用Glad to meet you. 或Pleased to meet you. 来替代Nice to meet you.

1、It was very nice to have met you.

2、It was nice meeting you.

3、Hope to see you again.

Yours sincerely,

Alexander Fung

You must have had the experience of giving and receiving invitations. Do you remember the last invitation from a friend? How did you settle the visit with your friend?

CHRIS: Hi, Liu! How's it going?

LIU: Fine, thanks. You?

CHRIS: Can't complain. Listen Liu, I wonder if you would like to come round and have a meal sometime?

LIU: Yeah, thanks a lot, that would be great!

CHRIS: What about Saturday evening?

LIU: Sure, Saturday evening would be fine. What time?

CHRIS: Let's make it around six. That okay?

LIU: Great!

CHRIS: You know where I live, don't you?

LIU: Yeah. No problem. Thanks very much. I really look forward to that.

Chris: Hi, Liu! How are you?

Liu: Fine, thanks. You?

Chris: Not bad. Listen Liu, I wonder if you would like to come to my home and have a meal sometime?

Liu: Yeah, thanks a lot, that would be great!

Chris: Would Saturday evening be fine for you?

Liu: Sure, Saturday evening would be fine. What time shall we meet then?

Chris: Let's meet at about six o'clock. Is that okay?

Liu: Great!

Chris: You know where I live, don't you?

Liu: Yeah. No problem. Thanks very much. I really look forward to that.

It is polite in the West to arrive at the time specified or within five or seven minutes after that time.

由此可见,上面对话中when Chris says "Let's make it around six", he actually means "not before six"。

I wonder if you would like to come around and have a meal sometime?

What about Saturday evening?

Let's make it around six.
